Welcome to the Department of Computer Engineering at King Saud University (KSU), the largest institution in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, with over 50,000 students enrolled across 23 different colleges. As one of the pioneering colleges at KSU, the College of Computer and Information Sciences (CCIS) plays a vital role in preparing our graduates to hold prestigious and key positions in both government and private sectors, while contributing to the development of our nation. The CCIS was established in 1984 to meet the growing demand of the job market by graduating highly qualified computer engineers. Initially founded with two departments—Computer Engineering and Computer Science—the college has since expanded to five departments, now also including Information Systems, Information Technology, and Software Engineering. The Department of Computer Engineering is deeply committed to delivering high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate education while maintaining excellence in research. For over thirty years, our department has led innovative interdisciplinary research initiatives and forged strong collaborations with major industries to address the engineering challenges facing our society. These collaborations span key sectors such as telecommunications (STC, Mobily, Zain), petroleum (Aramco), industry (SABIC), and banking (Al Rajhi Bank).
Our goal is to continue receiving ABET accreditation and further strengthen our ties with government and industry to remain a leading computer engineering department in the Gulf region. I personally invite you to visit our department, and I am confident that your observations will affirm our commitment to academic excellence and innovation.
Dr. Ahmed I. Alhammad
