Information Technology Unit

  

About the unit: 

The increasing requirements of maintaining a high degree of quality in technical skills and providing the necessary technical support with regard to hardware and software cannot be met without creating a dedicated unit to meet these needs and provide requirements. It is for this reason that the idea of establishing an Information Technology Unit emerged as a specialized unit whose function is to provide support for the needs of the college and to provide equipment’s for the college laboratories and offices. In addition to technical support, the Information Technology Unit provides professional and technical training and contracts partnerships with major IT companies such as IBM, Oracle, Microsoft, which ensures access to the latest technology developments and innovations. 

  

Vision of the unit: 

A leading and effective information technology unit to serve the College of Computer and Information Sciences, in developing the technical knowledge of faculty members and students of King Saud University and other universities, in all levels of education. 

  

Message of the unit: 

Developing the technical skills of faculty members and students by providing specialized seminars and courses approved by major technology companies in the world, to meet the needs of companies and government and private institutions of qualified youth of both sexes. 

  

Unit objectives: 

The unit supervises the mutual agreements between the college and the major international technology companies, in order to achieve the following goals 

  

  • Contributing to the realization of the university’s vision and mission represented in “global leadership and excellence in building a knowledge society.” 
  • Contribute to raising the level of scientific research for faculty members and students at the college and university by providing specialized training courses that are provided by accredited lecturers at reduced prices. 
  • Organizing seminars and conferences that aim to shed light on the latest developments in the field of information technology. 
  • Contribute to community service by spreading information awareness. 
  • Support the educational process in the college and the university as a whole. 

  

Unit Services: 

The Information Technology Unit at the College provides the following services: 

  

  • Installing and preparing the hardware and software required for each laboratory. 
  • Solve technical problems for both hardware and software. 
  • Technology update services and e-mails for faculty and staff members. 
  • E-learning halls service for faculty members in the college Broadcasting lectures to other colleges, such as the Female Section on the campus. 
  • College auditoriums Service to enable faculty members in the college to broadcast their lectures to other colleges, such as the Female Section on the campus. 
  • Follow up the local network in the laboratories and ensure safety and security standards. 

  

  

Working Hours:  

The IT Unit works for 7 hours a day, from 7:30 in the morning until 2:30 in the evening.
